Compressor Care has been working closely with Kingspan to ensure sustainable energy efficiency is achieved at their North Wales facility.
The Kingspan Group is a major manufacturer of an integrated range of products for the construction industry. Earlier this year the production at the North Wales facility doubled which created a need for an additional production facility. As such, the compressor system needed to be addressed in order that compressed air could be supplied to both facilities. As compressor specialists, Compressor Care was contacted to advise Kingspan on how the new production demand levels could be efficiently met.
Stage 1 – Re-align the Compressor System
Compressor Care planned and implemented two compressor systems for the two production facilities. In order to meet the new demand levels of production a new energy saving BOGE SF frequency controlled screw compressor was added to the compressor system.
Kingspan is keen to make sure that their site is operating efficiently. In order to ensure this a Compressor Care Energy Controller was installed into the facility.
This is currently simultaneously, controlling and managing the compressor systems at the two production facilities, via an Ethernet network system connection.
Future Developments
Kingspan is now keen to realise energy savings amongst all of their facility processes – not just with their compressed air system.
Compressor Care is now proposing two ways in which the Compressor Care Energy Controller can assist Kingspan in achieving this goal;
Step 1; implement the visualisation software to the current controller. Through an Ethernet driver the visualisation software will be able to ‘talk’ remotely to a Compressor Care modem. This will allow Compressor Care to produce the visualisation reports that will graphically demonstrate to Kingspan, for example, when and where further areas of energy efficiency can be achieved within the compressor system.
Step 2; integrate further processes, such at the vaccum pumps, to the Compressor Care Energy Controller.
Kingspan is keen to utilise the controller to its ultimate ability by integrating further facility processes into the system. This will effectively assist Kingspan in achieving energy efficiency over all the linked processes and save time, money and energy.
